FAQ
  • What does Grassfed, Grass Finished Mean?"
Grassfed, in short, means that the primary source of nutrition for cattle after weaning is grass, not grain. Grain is used in feedlots mainly, where cattle are confined to small spaces and fed processed grains continually. This results in a more "fatty" animal, which often makes beef less healthy to consume. However, our cattle are grass fed, and grass finished, meaning that we do not pull them off grass to finish them with grain, thereby fattening them up. This results in ButcherBlock Beef being leaner meat, which is more healthful and humane, as our animals live as cattle should, roaming fields and foraging.
  • Do you ship your beef?
We currently do not ship our beef, but will deliver for a small fee within 50 miles of the farm. If shipping is something you are very interested in, call or text us and we can at least look at options. Pickup and local delivery is preferred however.
  • Is your beef antibiotic and hormone free?
Our beef is hormone free, as we do not administer any growth hormones or any other type. We also do not feed our cattle antibiotics. However, certain cattle may have been inoculated or may have to be while they are on our farm. Reason is, like sick people, sick cattle infect others. We do not process unhealthy animals, and we try to keep sickness at bay. But all animals are susceptible to illness, and our cattle are professionally treated by a veterinarian if they fall ill. This is the only thing besides grass our cattle would ever receive.
